- Account details: your name and email address when you register
- Profile information: your London borough and role (Donor or Recipient)
- Listings: food photos, descriptions, and pick-up addresses you submit as a Donor
- Messages: in-app messages you send to other users
- Payment information: if you make a voluntary donation or subscribe to FoodLodge Business, payment details are processed by Stripe and are never stored on our servers
Information collected automatically
- Location: approximate location to show you nearby food listings (only when you grant permission)
- Push notification token: to send you alerts about listings, messages and collections
- Usage data: basic app activity to improve performance and fix issues
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the FoodLodge service and connect donors with recipients
- Send push notifications about listings, messages and collection confirmations
- Display food listings on the map (borough-level only — full address is only revealed to the recipient who claims a listing)
- Process voluntary donations and Business subscriptions via Stripe
- Improve the app and troubleshoot issues
- Ensure the safety and integrity of the platform

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
We share data only with:
- Firebase (Google): for real-time messaging and push notifications
- Stripe: for processing payments
- MongoDB Atlas: for secure database storage
- Render: for hosting our server infrastructure
All third-party services are bound by their own privacy policies and applicable data protection law.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Food listings and anonymised exchange records may be retained for statistical purposes.
